We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give – Winston Churchill

Two of my classmates initiated two opportunities where I could give back to our community in very meaningful ways. First, for several weeks during the spring, we were able to go to the Bergen Family Center and do activities with the children in the program. The activities and time spent with them was so much fun. As a group we planned the activities in advance and we spent one afternoon each week for several weeks with the children. These kids are in my neighborhood and it means so much to me to get to go to the playground with them, read to them, paint or color with them, donate clothes, and play games. When I see these kids around town they remember me and it makes me feel good.
When I am volunteering, I am giving, but I am getting as well.
The other opportunity was raising money for Hi Tor Animal Care Center,Inc. We raised the money by selling snacks at lunch at school. Kids love noodles, chips, drinks and candy for a good cause.
